Kay's Guide to Nashville

Nashville, Tennessee has always been a destination I've dreamed of visiting. Having grown up with a passion for country music, I know Nashville is the ideal spot for any country music enthusiast.

WHEN TO GO:

We visited in October for my mom's 50th birthday, and I truly believe it was the ideal time to go. The weather was just right—not too hot or too cold. Being from Virginia, I found the climate quite similar.

We arrived on a Thursday and departed on a Sunday, which I think was sufficient to accomplish everything we wanted. However, we enjoyed it so much that we wished for more time.

I would personally suggest going on a Thursday, as we were able to experience a lot that evening before the crowds arrived on Friday night!

PLACES TO STAY:

We stayed at an Airbnb just outside the city and took an Uber into the city each night. Although I appreciated this choice for providing a break from the city's hustle, I wish we had opted for a hotel closer to everything. I think this might have been more convenient.

PLACES TO EAT:

Many bars on Broadway also offer dining options. The establishments I suggest are:

• Jason Aldean's

• The Hampton Social

• Luke Bryan's bar for sushi

• The Bluebird Cafe

• Paula Deen's Family Kitchen

THINGS TO DO:

Nashville offers a wealth of attractions and activities, so it's a good idea to make a list of the must-see spots you're eager to visit.

Broadway is undoubtedly the primary destination downtown. The entire street is filled with bars owned by country singers, some of which have multiple levels.

The Gulch is a charming area in downtown filled with adorable boutiques and shops. It's easy to spend plenty of time here, and it's also where you'll find the Big Wing PhotoOp!

Brunch at the Hampton Social - This delightful spot is perfect for a group of girls to kick off your day in the city. The food is incredible, and they offer a large shell bowl of alcoholic drinks with glitter that can be shared with the entire group!

Check out the Bluebird Cafe and try to catch a show. Many well-known artists performed here before they became famous to kickstart their careers. The venue is quite small, so it's advisable to make a reservation as soon as possible if you're interested.

Visiting the Grand Ole Opry was an incredible experience, one of the coolest I've ever had. The tour included seeing all the different dressing rooms, going backstage, and even taking a picture with the microphone on stage! I wish I had attended a show there, but it would have been wise to purchase tickets in advance. If attending a performance at the Grand Ole Opry is on your list, I highly recommend it!

Next to the Grand Ole Opry, there's a mall with a wide variety of shops that we explored.

We also wished we had spent more time at Printers Alley. It's a bit off the main path from Broadway and has a more local vibe, which we really enjoyed. On my next visit, I'll definitely make a point to stop by this spot!

Our trip was fantastic, and I believe everyone should visit Nashville at least once in their lifetime!
