All my life I have been scared to go on a cruise. I was worried about being sick the entire time or the thought of being out in the middle of nowhere freaked me out.

This past March, I went on my very first cruise and had the most amazing time!!

CRUISE LINE:

We traveled with Celebrity Cruises, a cruise line I hadn't heard of before. The ship was impeccably clean, elegant, and offered a variety of activities to enjoy on board.

WHERE DID WE GO:

We embarked on our journey from Friday to Monday, following the route from Fort Lauderdale to Key West, Florida, then to Bimini, Bahamas, and back to Fort Lauderdale.

PACKAGES ON BOARD:

Drink Package - the drink package was worth it, especially if you plan on drinking while on board. You could go up and get certain drinks that were included with the package however, some drinks were not included and you would be charged for those or you could upgrade your package.

Wi-Fi Package - On board, there were various Wi-Fi packages available. One package enabled you to send text messages, while the other also granted internet access. I opted for the package that allowed texting, and honestly, it was refreshing to disconnect from the online world, even just for a short while.

*Make sure to reach out to your phone provider if you're still in the United States, as you might incur charges if your phone isn't set to airplane mode. I have AT&T and was charged because I should have opted for the cruise package AT&T offered...*

ACTIVITIES ON BOARD:

The ship offered a variety of activities on board which included:

  • Casino

  • Karaoke

  • Multiple Martini Bars

  • The Pool Deck

  • Shows

  • Silent Disco

BRIEF ITINERARY

Friday: Leave out of Fort Lauderdale

Saturday: Key West, Florida

Sunday: Bimini, Bahamas

Monday: Wake up in Fort Lauderdale - exit ship

FRIDAY (FORT LAUDERDALE)

After setting sail to Key West, it was time to discover everything the ship had in store. Thanks to the drink package, we could enjoy unlimited drinks, which was fantastic.

The ship featured a variety of shops offering jewelry, luxury bags, and souvenirs from the destinations we were visiting.

It was nice to go to different places during the day and come back on the ship to explore more.

The casino was a huge success with the group I went with. We had an amazing time, and some of us even won back a good amount of money.

SATURDAY (KEY WEST)

On Saturday, we woke up in Key West, Florida with a day planned ahead of us. A few of us went off to go shopping on Duval Street, while a few others went to the beach for a little and planned to join us later.

If you're looking to stroll and shop, Duval Street is the ideal destination. It's one of the primary streets in Key West, featuring numerous shops and bars to explore.

A reminder for Key West: There are chickens EVERYWHERE and they do not care if you are in their way. They will walk right by you and not think twice, which is something I had to get use to considering I am afraid on them.

Key Lime Pie is a big attraction in Key West, and we found ourselves at a bar on Duval Street that offered frozen key lime margaritas, which were INCREDIBLE!!

SUNDAY (BIMINI, BAHAMAS)

I had never visited the Bahamas before, so I was thrilled to travel to another country. I appreciated that Bimini was more relaxed and less touristy compared to what I had seen about Nassau. Given that it is a small island, most people drove golf carts to get around.

We had secured beach access for the day, which allowed us to visit Resort World Bimini. There, we could relax by the pool or on lounge beds by the beach. It was a pleasant day spent unwinding with music and the crystal-clear blue waters.

After this, we went to Fisherman's Village Marina which had a few shops where we could get souvenirs, jewelry, or some gelato.

MONDAY (FORT LAUDERDALE)

After leaving Bimini, we set sail back to Fort Lauderdale which was so sad. We truly had an amazing time and felt like it ended too soon. Personally, I wish we had extended our trip to five days so we could have spent more time on the ship and explored more destinations. This just means I'll have to take another cruise!

Overall, The cruise wasn't as frightening as I had anticipated. I did feel nauseous during our dinner on the first night, but after taking Dramamine and drinking some ginger ale, I felt better right away.

If you're considering going on a cruise but have some hesitations, I say GO FOR IT! I assure you, you won't regret it.

xoxo
